The possible short term effects of my sleeping pattern is that I am tired the following day after staying up late, and also my homework and assignments aren't such good quality since I was too tired to concentrate properly. A possible long term effect is that I could get into a habit of staying up late, and always feel tired, but unable to go to bed early. I could improve my sleeping patterns by finishing my homework and assignments quickly so I don't have to stay up late, I could make sure that there are no activities I might feel inclined to do at night by removing my computer and books from my room, I could set an alarm to go off at a certain time which reminds me to go to bed, and I could change the settings on my computer so you are unable to use it after a certain time. The use of electronic devices before bed can be extremely harmful to your sleeping patterns. Staring at a bright light all night can hurt your eyesight, and also keeps you awake, stopping your body from sending the appropriate signals for when you are tired. The use of internet, in particular, is particularly dangerous since there are so many websites you can use, so if you get bored of the game you are playing, you could go on a different website immediately, or even click on an ad on the side of a page. Your body can get very tired from staying up late too many nights in a row, which leads to exhaustion and getting sick. This means that at school or in a test, you won't be able to concentrate anywhere near as well as someone who goes to bed early without the influence of an electronic device. If you are in a habit of using electronic devices before bed, you could try setting locks on them so you can't access them late at night, or you could read a book before bed. If you are unable to sleep early in the evening, you could try doing exercise before bed, exhausting your body so you are more inclined to sleep.
